Jim and I met with the Hurricane Power Department folks this morning.

The plan is to bring power in overhead from the R/P venue.  It will come in over our back equipment area into a pole set at the front of the berm between Bay 14 and 15.  It will then follow the road down with poles every other bay. They will have a plug at the bottom for power on each bay, and we can hang lights and internet and other things off them as well.

The last pole will be by the Conex where there will be a pedestal that will have 20/30 amp plugs and also the necessary panels for trained electricians to take 200 amp power out on secondary lines to wherever it may be needed.

The next step is to have the BLM okay the plan, and then they said it should go quick.

That’s our main gate in the middle right.

Plenty of room for a State Match, an Area match, or even a Nationals. Plus RV parking too. 

Sorry for the car window reflection… Brian took the pic with his phone, but apparently didn’t wish to get out of the car.

He finished in 70th place over all, at a skosh under 70% for the match.

I’m very proud of him, not just for such a good finish, but also for putting aside 3 disastrous stages of equipment problems the first of the match.    He stayed calm, diagnosed the problem, replaced parts on the pistol, and shot great the rest of the match.  Slowly digging out of a big points hole, and ending up pretty high.

Without the equipment woes?  Top 40 finish.

Btw: If you follow his results, he flipped what he did last year where he aced the speed shoots.This year he did well on the speed shoots, but he he also finished high on the big field courses.  Lots of points, and lots of running – formerly a weakness. But through 3 days a week of hard training at Edge Fitness over the last few months he is now running fast enough to get 80+% scores on those big field courses.

What I’m most happy with? Perseverance. It would have been totally easy to give up 1.5 hours into a 3 day match.  That was made even tougher by the difficulty of the stages at this year’s match. Very tough stuff.

However, on field courses, his % dropped the longer the course.  Rough video analysis shows about 1/2 second or more lost per position.  He needs to learn to run, and to accelerate with power and agility.

We hooked up with Edge Fitness (http://www.trainatedge.com/index.html)  and his first training session was today.  They really know their stuff and there were visible improvements in his movement from training beginning to end.   Brian’s intent is for this training to improve the movement gap in time for Nationals.
