Here are the results for the Iron County Action Shooters .22 steel match last Saturday. They should have their own site up at ironcountyactionshooters.com by end of week, and I’ll post it there as well.
It was pretty fun. They combined some Steel Challenge stages (Smoke & Hope and Double Tap) with home grown ones to good effect. The quality of the targets they’ve built is terrific – well done Chuck and Jim.

We had a total of 20 people show up to shoot, 2 had to leave before they shot (work obligations) and 3 had to leave before they completed their course of fire because of family commitments. Our apologies to those that did not shoot and those who had to leave early, hopefully by shooting in squads we will get more shooters through faster.
Update: Friday is filling up. So Brian and I will be driving Friday, shooting Saturday, returning home Sunday. The campground at the range has water, bathroom and showers, so we will be camping.
The match is near Ault, CO (by Ft. Collins). About 750 miles from St. George.
We have room for 4 more shooters in a nicely outfitted E350 van (with mobile internet, a fridge, and power).

5 stages with 60+ rounds!
Brian and I had planned to motor to Texas mid May for the Texas Open. But it has been canceled (due to lack of entries). That is pretty surprising.
So we are going to the Rocky Mountain 300 instead. It is May 14-16. You can shoot Friday, or Saturday. Side matches on Sunday are optional. It is near Ft. Collins, CO.

Stages: http://www.ecouspsa.com/RM300%20stages%202010.pdf
Their “angle”… huge round counts. Each stage is 60+ rounds. So you might want to shoot Limited or Open, versus Single Stack, Production, or Revolver.
We are going, so gas is on us. You would have to cover your own hotel or lodging. I barely like sharing with him, much less anybody else (-:
There is camping at the range. So we will probably just snug up in our van, or setup a tent.
Just a reminder of Iron County Action Shooters, .22 cal steel shoot on 24 April 2010. We will start with a shooters meeting at 10:00 am.
The range is located 13 1/2 miles north of Cedar City off hwy 130 (Minersville Hwy). Go North on Hwy 130 and 1/2 mile past mile marker 13, turn left follow the dirt road to the gravel pit (about 800 ft.).
We will have 5 stages and we will shoot 3 strings on each stage with the highest time being thrown out and the two lowest scores will be added together for your score for each stage, your time will be your score. A missed target will incur a 3 second penalty.
Three stages will have plate racks, one stage will be called "Smoke and Hope" and one stage will be a double tap (2- 24"x 18" rectangle plates and 1- 12" round stop plate).
Bring at least 100 rounds of .22 LR ammo, your .22 pistol or rifle, eye and ear protection.

Just something I stumbled across on the Internet today.
Personally… I dubious Dad’s ear plugs are quite enough…
1. We donated an additional $850 to the fuel fund for redoing our range. That included
several donations and one from Ken Nelsonʼs business for $500. This event was used to
reiterate that we want our range.
(NOTE – these minutes were made before the match on Saturday, where we raised several hundred more $ – thanks to all who donated!).
2. Surveying was completed, but the elevations are wrong. So, the elevations will be
redone on Tuesday, 20 April 2010. Earth moving could commence after that is done.
3. The Sheriffs Representative, Jeff Bailey, noted that the county is ready to go just as
soon as they have the elevations.
4. All venues were asked to turn in a list of needs/wants for the next 5 years. Please help
us out with the list. The following are what was immediately noted:
a. Steel Challenge bays
b. at least 12 USPSA/Action pistol bays
c. Shade – moveable
d. Utilities: Lights/power, water, bath rooms, sewer.
(Note: Electricity will terminate about 200 yards from our range. Charlie Wotkyns
offered a large roll of high gauge electrical wire to help port the distance.)
e. Meeting/club house for our end of the range
Jon C. Christensen, Secretary/Treasurer, SUPR
16 shooters turned out in great weather with 6 challenging classifier stages. It seemed to be Brian Nelson’s first chance for an overall win. And he didn’t lose it by shooting bad, instead Bryan Mortensen took it with blistering run on the last stage we shot (# 1).
Thanks to all who attended. And a special thanks to those who kicked in a little extra at registration for fuel money to rebuild the range!
