Also, I’ve heard some folks are thinking there may be a match tomorrow. Alas, NO.   It will be the regularly scheduled 3rd Saturday.

Concurrently, Brian will host a separate practice focusing on some deeper aspect of the game. And no, contrary to last night’s fun shoot, it will not be taking plate racks from the hip.  More likely, fundamentals like splits, transitions, reloads, so forth…

You will need maybe 100 rounds for my class, and as much as you care to shoot for Brian’s.

If you are coming for the first time,  the most common issue I see is lack of a sturdy belt to hold the holster. That is useful

After breaking bread and chatting for a bit, we got down to some shooting.  Previously, we’d set up a bunch of steel, 2 plate racks, and an overlapping set of poppers.  First we just banged away with .22′s, letting the kids have fun.  Then the grownups got serious with some mano y mano shootoffs.

Jeff, from Stahelis Catering, showed some mad pistol skills, going 2 deep in the brackets.  The match from Dixie and Wolf was a nail biter, and then it was me vs Brian – father vs son, wisdom vs youth – wisdom won!  When the dust settled, I’d shook off the rust of 2 months of match prep and no shooting, and using my Kimber carry gun, I managed to work my way through the brackets and eke out a win against Brent Johnson who was firing a G35 he’d bought 2 hours before!

Then it was on to call out matches – Dixie vs Wolf,  Wolf and his cowboy carbine vs Ken – the carbine won. Brian taking the plate rack from the hip. And just a lot of other fun shooting.

We should do this more often…
