Over the last few weeks, roughly concurrent to when we made some technical changes in how southernutahpistol.com was hosted, some of you have reported you haven’t received e-mails announcing matches and other news.

I’m not sure what the issue is, as the mails work for hundreds of folks. Enough people mentioned it that I decided to change how mail is delivered.

I’ve switched our e-mail announcements over to MadMimi.com, which is the system I’ve been using for the Area 1 and Utah State Match announcements.

You don’t need to do a thing. If you have signed up before, I moved your e-mail over.  The system polls our website for new content and e-mails it each hour, so there may be a delay between what is on the site and what you get e-mailed.

If you weren’t getting messages, and now you are, please let me know that we’ve solved the problem

Storms predicted on Thursday never materialized. We needed sun-screen today.

I really enjoyed finally getting to shoot the State Match stages.  I wish Jim could have made it today, but Christmas Honey-Do’s kept him away.

We welcomed traveling shooters Blair Cooper (all the way from Michigan) and Bob Jimenez (from Cedar). Thanks for joining us fellows!

And congratulations to Jerry Cunningham &   Jared Bowler on their first USPSA match!  They had a good time and I suspect we will be seeing them again in the near future.

Congratulations to Brian Nelson, on winning these stages again.  In a close .3% margin over Kevin Acuff.   Preston Acuff was close in the hunt, just 1.2% back for 3rd place in the overall.   Brian took Limited, followed by Jeff Bailey, and myself.

I’m going to back the schedule off 1/2 hour so as to let the sun warm things up a bit. The weather does look good, better than forecast a few days back. It should be a pretty nice day.

There will be a New Competitors Class and Practice today at 3:30.

Also, FYI… our 2nd match in January will be an All Classifier match – 6 stages, all classifiers.
Vegas will run the same the Sunday following our match, so in one weekend you could conceivably classify in 4 divisions.

We will run a New Competitor Class (5 people RSVP’’ed so far) and an Advanced Practice working on splits and trigger control drills.

Just got this in from the Vegas Match Director. It will be a 9 stage match combining 3 gun, steel challenge, and USPSA (including a classifier) in Vegas on Sunday.   The Nelson “Run & Gun” Van will be heading south – RSVP if you want to go with us.  Note that there will be loaner carbines on the 3-Gun stages available (in 9mm).  You are also welcome to run any of our 3-Gun gear.

This Sunday will be the last match of the year, and there will not be a 1st sun match in January so there will not be a match for 4 weeks.
 
There was talk of a combined match for this weekend on face book a while back so we decided to make it happen. we have got together with the steel MD and the multigun MD and composed a super Holiday end of year shoot spectacular lol.  9 stages of pistol and 3 mg side stages
 
We will have 4 steel challenge stages set up as stages 1-4. they will be shot more like classifiers in that we will have mutable strings, and the strings will be varied round counts. example, string 1 draw and shoot the course. string 2 draw and shoot the course, make a mandatory reload and re shot the course. you will shoot the courses 4 times in some fashion making them each worth 100 points stages scored comstock on the palms.
 
there will be a classifier ( CM-99-41) as stage 5.  = 12 rounds
 
stage 6 will follow in the new tradition of the bill drill practice but different…  = 12 rounds
 
stage 7 will be all steel pistol stage about 20 rounds+
 
stage 8 will be a med paper course about 20 rounds
 
and stage 9 will be a long paper course at 30 rounds
 
1-4 have no reset and, 5-7 will be fast. 8 and 9 are only with paper for taping, so the match still should get done fast, well then the side stages.
 
 
there will also be 3 side stages for those that wish to shoot them.  these will be scored on paper as time plus multigun scoring.
 
10, is an all shotgun shot on the same course as stage 7 when the pistol match is over. there will be a shotgun there for anyone to use if they wish to shoot the stage, bring 1 box of 2-3/4 #6-8 shells, not light loads as they may not cycle through a semiauto.
 
11, is a mid long range rifle shot out the left upper bay. there will be 8-10 targets at distances from 65-165 yards
      shot from 2 positions.  there will be a rifle avail for those that wish to shoot the stage, bring some 55gr 223 (no steel core)
 
12 will be a hoser rifle paper stage on the same course as stage 9 shot when the pistol match is over. there will be a 9mm carbine ar type rifle for anyone that wants to shoot the stage.  bring some extra 9mm ammo
 
so there will be 200 rounds approx in the main match and whatever extra you may want to throw down range in side stages
 
I will be at the range all day Saturday setting up and will comp 2 match fees for anyone wanting to come out an help for the day. the match will still start at 9:00 and the match fee will be $28 for members and $33 for non members. that includes the classifier.

The stages… 5-9 and 11 from the state match.  Budget a little time after, if you don’t mind, to help us tear walls down and stack them near where we will convert a bunch of them into a new shoot house.
